I don't really have words to express just how humbled I was tonight by Dana Perino's comments about me on FoxNews. I hope this isn't too "Look at Me!" by posting this, but wow. Just wow. Thank you Dana, I'm going to keep trying to live up to this. And as we all know, it takes a team, and we have the best around here in Point Pleasant Beach!
I wanted to take a minute to personally address the photos and videos circulating from yesterday's beach party and our path as a town going forward. Chief Michigan will be issuing a separate statement with the particulars of the situation and the law enforcement response in the next hour.
“I can’t believe that I have to be here. I’m the mayor of a 4,500-person town, one and a half square miles, and you guys are about to spend more taxpayer money on giving an international corporation who can’t manage their own budget the ability to come in and destroy my town at the Jersey Shore and our entire tourism economy,” said Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Paul M. Kanitra.
"They just do a wonderful job of helping those who've already served and helped us and helped this country and now really need help," Kanitra said. "They're involved with the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, so they're part of a larger nationwide network and they have all of the resources that that brings to bear as well.”
